Bak kwa

We had been ordering this ‘private label’ bah kwa for the past 4-5 years. I loved it so much that we ever brought it to Paris for CNY one year.

I called it private label because they did it in a pop-up stall style. They got the raw materials from a factory and rented a place to BBQ for the lunar new year season.

Hence, the collection point would vary from year to year. What I loved about it was they BBQed it well, sliced thinly and tasted great. Most of the famed brands, owing to overwhelming popularity, tended to serve up less savory bak kwa as compared to their usual standards.

No queue (since it was all via preorder basis), great taste and slightly lower priced – it was a great private label.

Thank goodness they maintained their standards after so many years.
